First Class

In the foreword to The Big New Yorker Book of Dogs, writer Malcom Gladwell recalls a neighbor who smuggled her dog around town “in the bowels of her Hermés bag.” Oh the shame, of being tossed into a carryall along with an owner’s keys and compact. Lucky for jet-setting pets everywhere, dog product label Cloud 7 and travel brand TUMI have collaborated on a luxury flight carrier and accessories.

“Cloud 7’s aesthetic is very elegant,” says TUMI’s Alan Krantzler. “Many pet carriers in the market have a trendy approach, but Cloud 7 designs focus on functionality, and how products can fit perfectly into the most sophisticated lifestyle.” With airline regulations in mind, the two creative teams fashioned a design-conscious carrier with a plush wool interior, water-resistant lining and shoulder strap that doubles as a leash.

“It had to look classy, and offer the dog (and owner) comfort and functionality when planning a trip,” adds Cloud 7’s Todd Schulz of the collection, which also comprises a travel bed and a set of collapsible bowls. “The design and construction is quite complex.”

Our precious cargo would expect nothing less.
