s READ MOREVenezuelan-born, New York-based visual artist Andrea Cáceres is one heck of a busy dog lover. In addition to gorgeous portraits (commissions available in minimal, digital and watercolour), Cáceres brings to life feel-good depictions of curious canines across children’s books, clothing, packaging, murals and more. As well as collaborations with brands that can only be described as top dogs of the retail world: Opening Ceremony, Kiehl’s and Saks to name a few.
In the presence of Cáceres’ art, your heart can’t help but lift a little, drawn into a world of wonder, whimsy and watercolour. For that, we can thank Tobi: “I started drawing dogs when I got my dog, Tobi. Tobi is 11; he is my soulmate. And an evil genius. He is the reason I started drawing at all.” The silky terrier shares the artist’s heart with Sherlock, a one-year-old Weimaraner rescue, best described as, “68 pounds of silly, clumsy, clingy and handsome.”
With her two hounds in tow, Cáceres absorbs her creative fuel across New York City. The trio frequents Central Park, lapping up sights of golden retrievers frolicking in fountains and storing them away in the inspiration bank. Judging by the artist’s impressive trajectory, that golden retriever might be coming soon to a billboard near you.
