For anyone who’s wished their hands were free to clutch a coffee while waiting for their pup to sniff every centimetre of soil during a long walk, look to the modern startup, Fable. The brand’s Magic Link system allows us humans to wear their adjustable leash as a belt, bandolier, or wrist strap, so we can run, talk, or even type without danger.
Founded by brother-sister duo Jeremy Canade and Sophie Bakalar—entrepreneurs and self-dubbed ‘pet people’—Fable aims to truly balance form and function, while keeping the health of dogs and our environment in mind, too. Their approach is evident in something as simple as biodegradable dog wipes (made with just six organic ingredients) to more elaborate needs, like a crate.
Their den-like design doubles as a side table to maximise space in smaller homes. Your pooch can cozy up inside the crate but still have access to plenty of fresh air thanks to a surplus of square vents placed on all sides of the wooden frame. Dogs get to revel in a cross breeze, and we get to enjoy an unobtrusive piece of furniture with Scandinavian appeal. Throw in Fable’s machine-washable memory foam bed and everyone rests easy.
Fable’s moral MO—to inspire adventure, show transparency in their supply chain, and never compromise on quality—may sound too good to be true, but as they see it, it’s just “the next evolution in pet gear.” With a range of thoughtful toys, leads, bowls, and more, welcome to the future of canine comfort.
We are thrilled to introduce Dog-Friendly, a collection of city guides for dog-loving people, created together with our long-time contributor, photographer Winnie Au, and fellow enthusiasts, indie publisher Hoxton Mini Press. Available for purchase here.
