s READ MOREWe’ve always loved our pets. But there’s no denying in recent years our treatment of domesticated darlings has hit new heights of indulgence. You’d be hard pressed to find a city-dwelling dog who sleeps outside; this is the life of the modern hound. And you’ll hear no complaints from us. This is human-grade treatment and our dogs deserve no less. We borrowed the term ‘human-grade’ from our friends at Cloud7, who use it to describe their passion for premium products for dogs.
From the beginning, the brand has held fast to environmentally friendly principles in pursuit of high-quality, fair-trade design and production. Cloud7 is extending this ethos to vegan dog beds, collars, leashes, toys and accessories. “Our aim is to give every customer the best possible dog products to go with their lifestyle. It’s not just about the food we eat, but seeing a broader picture. Our love for nature is still the main inspiration,” Cloud7’s founder Petra Jungebluth explains.
In search of the best leather alternatives for collars and leashes, Petra explored apple leather and strawberry leather (yes, they’re both a thing), before landing on cactus leather, complemented by the very best heavy-duty brass. “We hoped to loose the leather details that are usually there to add value and a certain look and feel to a product. If we are able to do all of that without animal products, that’s perfect! We started sourcing in early 2021; we are happy we were able to turn everything into reality so quickly” Petra reflects back.
When it comes to dog beds, Cloud7’s latest addition, Lazy, is crafted from all-natural hand-woven seagrass, made by businesses that support female empowerment in the area. Sustainability steers everything as Cloud7 creates its cut-above accessories, but what distinguishes them in a busy market is the distinctly human appeal. Designed to complement dogs and owners alike, Cloud7 is both design-driven and planet-minded. Every material, finish and final product is tested for durability and longevity. “We’re all about buying less and using longer” Petra adds. Easy to wash and built to last, a Cloud7 piece will be with you and your hound for the long haul.
