s READ MORE“McQueen. Dior. Hermes. But make it sighthound.” If that was the brief for each stunning GRIG piece we wouldn’t be surprised. In the sophisticated cuts of Grig’s Italian greyhound- and whippet-wear, the fashion pedigree of founder Iku Furudate is as clear as a spring day in Paris—which, also happens to be GRIG’s natural habitat and Furudate’s home turf. The Japanese fashion designer is best known for Commuun, the label she co-founded with Kaito Hori in 2005. With its structured cuts, sculpted ruffles and striking geometric accents, Commuun was awarded the LVMH and Longchamp ANDAM prize in 2007.
All these years later, the same sophisticated current runs through each GRIG coat and button-up turtleneck, they’re just worn by our friends with four legs. From its signature St-Germain Trench to the plum-coloured Pigalle Fringe Coat made with luxury wool jacquard, GRIG sets a new standard in canine couture.“The initial idea was to create dog wear that would go with our outfits. To me, quality means great cutting, good fabrics, and fine details. My challenge was to apply the same luxury fashion industry methods to dog wear” Furudate explains. Handmade to order in Paris and complemented by the reticent elegance of long-legged sighthounds, Grig is Paris personified and pup-wear perfected.
