TRAIL OF THE INCAS

The Inca believed that a black dog guided spirits towards reincarnation. Thanks to Allku Pets, the textile craft of the Otavaleño tribe in Ecuador is getting new life. Leashes, collars and beds are adorned with brightly coloured, traditional patterns derived from a pre-colonial culture. “All of our products are handmade by artisans in Ecuador who have quite literally devoted their entire life to honing their craft and we think that’s something you don’t often find,” say Allku co-founders Gabriela Landazuri and Adrian Varga. In addition, a percentage of each sale is donated to the Chicago based Anti-Cruelty Society.
